CBS’ Margaret Brennan scoffed at Residence Speaker Kevin McCarthy’s (R-Calif.) claim that Democrats “tried to do everything” to pressure a shutdown of the federal govt.
“Face The Nation” host Brennan laughed at McCarthy as he tried to pin the blame on Democrats ― and not hardline House Republicans who stalled on the bill with their requires for shelling out cuts ― for the very last-moment character of the monthly bill.
“I was not sure it was heading to pass,” admitted McCarthy on Sunday.
“You want to know why? Because the Democrats tried to do everything they can not to enable it pass,” he claimed.
“Democrats had been the types who voted for this in a bigger selection than Republicans to continue to keep the continuing resolution alive,” she responded.
“Did you check out the floor yesterday?” McCarthy requested.
“Oh, indeed,” Brennan stated, just before noting that “90 Republicans voted against it.”
Late Saturday, President Joe Biden signed the very last-ditch, non permanent monthly bill to fund the govt right until Nov. 17.
