Republican infighting confirmed no indicator of abating above the weekend as Rep. Tom McClintock (R-Calif.) issued a blistering letter to Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.) and seven other people in the meeting who voted to oust previous Dwelling Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.).
The sarcastic missive, shared on the net by several congressional reporters, was in reaction to a Friday letter from Gaetz and 6 of the 7 some others to their colleagues.
These 7 lawmakers mentioned they were being “prepared to settle for censure, suspension, or removal” from the convention if that is what it took to get holdouts against Rep. Jim Jordan’s (R-Ohio) speakership to “vote with the team.” (Rep. Ken Buck of Colorado, the eighth member of the group that voted to remove McCarthy, was also mentioned on the letter but reported it was a slip-up. He opposed Jordan’s speakership).
McClintock named out the hypocrisy of his fellow Republicans in a letter on his official letterhead on Saturday.
“Dear Wayward colleagues,” McClintock’s letter commenced. “Your letter of Oct 20, in which you graciously give to martyr yourselves as lengthy as you can get your way, is perhaps the most selfless act in American record.”
“I was certain that our Republican colleagues ‘who refuse to vote’ with the Republican majority would have been influenced by your stirring example of social gathering discipline and loyalty to ‘vote with the group,’ as you so eloquently phrased it,” he ongoing.
“We genuinely never should have you,” he wrote.
He proposed that his colleagues “plan your martyrdom in the only way that definitely matters: to have the wisdom to see the problems you have completed to our place and to have the bravery to established things appropriate in advance of it is as well late.”
He explained he experienced provided a proposed resolution “that maybe just one of you can offer you as we commence the fourth 7 days of nationwide paralysis and as the entire world burns all around us.”

Earlier this month, Gaetz filed a motion to oust McCarthy since the latter would not acquiesce to his demands on investing laws and other concerns.
