California officer involved in controversial police shooting resigns over racist texts, chief says

SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) — A California law enforcement officer included in a controversial capturing final calendar year has resigned immediately after the discovery of racist text messages he wrote, which includes some making mild of the taking pictures, a law enforcement chief says.

, who joined the San Jose Police Division in 2017, quit final week after being notified of an investigation into his offensive messages, Police Main Anthony Mata instructed the Bay Place Information Team.
